  • Just what I was looking for! Matt was our instructor who quickly picked up on each of our skill levels and taught so much more! My girlfriend and I got so many climbs to experience from easy to very difficult! It didn't take long to see his skills that provided us with confidence! Amazing experience that leaves you wanting more!

... on that note, I got some more! The next day Matt took me to the top of Longs Peak! An experienced Mountaineer is a must for first timers. I felt very trusting and confident in him to guide me safely. In the end not only did I make everlasting memories, but made a friend!

  • Back again for another adventure. This time an all day hike up the North Face of Longs Peak, 14,256’. Yew! What an epic day hiking and utilizing, improving high alpine mountaineering skills. The ascent up the North Face required crampons and ice ax on the snow field above the boulder field which is roughly a 50 degree incline then putting on the harness, roping in and climbing the crux pitch. On the way down we had to do a 60 meter rappel and then glissaded down that snow field. Amazingly fun and challenging! Highly recommend this adventure if you want a challenge! Matt is an excellent guide and instructor. I’ll be back... (See pics below previous post pics)

Had a great 2 day experience learning to rock climb from Matt Lovas. He is a very knowledgeable, fun, and safety conscious instructor who made the entire experience memorable. We started out at Performance Park in downtown Estes Park working on the basics, i.e., gear, knots, terminology (“take” being my favorite), and climbing technique. Matt was extremely thorough with safety and consistently checked and rechecked the gear to ensure proper setup. His greatest attributes are his clear communication style and confident demeanor. Never once did I feel fearful or uncertain of what to do. The 2nd day we headed up to Lumpy Ridge to do a route known as Batman. Little did Matt know that as a kid I watched the original Batman series on tv and always dreamed of scaling the side of tall buildings. How appropriate! We got to the base of the route and looked up. All I was thinking was “you’ve got to be kidding”. No way did I think I was going to get to the top. There were a couple daunting overhangs that would surely prevent me, a beginner, from getting to the top. Matt assured me I could do it and to stay calm, breathe, and do as many “takes” as needed. I got to the first overhang, mind you it’s just part of the rock that leans towards you, pretty minor but still it’s an overhang. Panic kicked in, I quickly took a rest (“TAKE”) and focused on breathing. Matt once again calmly talked me through that section. Once securely above the overhang, I looked down, took in the view, and thought “I got this”. What an amazing experience! I can’t wait to go back to try another route. If you’re new to climbing or an experienced climber looking to be challenged you’ve got to look up Matt at Estes Park Rock Climbing. He’ll take great care of you and ensure you have a memorable experience!

  • Our rock climbing experience with Estes Park Rock Climbing was amazing! Our guide Seth called us ahead of time to discuss our rock climbing experience and what we wanted to get out of our trip. We are complete beginners and the climb we did was absolutely perfect! He made it fun and made us feel comfortable and safe the whole time. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for rock climbing in Estes Park! We will definitely be coming back.

  • Matt led an excursion to climb Snowmass with me and a buddy - and I couldn't say better things about the experience he provided. I felt safe the entire time due to his disciplined approach and mastery of the art of climbing - and he made the experience more fun by being such a great person. I don't often write reviews - but felt compelled to because of what an insightful and patient coach Matt was for me on my second trip climbing - and because of the amazing service he provided throughout the entire climbing experience.

  • Our boys, age 17 and 20, had a great time climbing with Estes Park Rock Climbing. We were last minute reservations and it was very nice of Hayden to come in so that they could climb during our limited time in Estes Park. Hayden was professional, conversational, and friendly. He did a great job in evaluating their different experience levels and helping them have safe and enjoyable climbs. We will definitely use them again! Thanks for making their climbing experience so awesome!

  • I have known Seth and Matt for years, long before they started this company. They both taught me how to climb when I first moved to Colorado. We have been on multiple climbs together across the US and some in South America. These guys know their stuff and I’m so lucky to have met them when I was first getting into climbing. These two will show you a good time on and off the rock!

  • Superb professionals! I met Matt and his team at Estes Park Rock Climbing through a trusted referral when planning a family reunion. When I described our needs, which included designing a hike for a large group that included an 86-year-old, rock climbing with a 10-year-old, and providing an added layer of safety for a strenuous hike/climb, he selected guides who met each of those needs in turn with delightful professionalism that enhanced the experiences for everyone. Great sandwiches, too!

Ah yes, Lumpy Ridge is Nice!
In

Lumpy Ridge is a destination climbing area for many climbers.  Along with a great introduction to multi-pitch climbing, it also has many sought after goals.  Something for everyone.  There isn't quite anything like getting to the top of the 600' Batman Pinnacle (5.6), or the 500' tall White Whale (5.7), or something more challenging such as the 600' tall "The Sorcerer" (5.8+) on a warm afternoon and starring down at all of the Estes Valley and into the mountains!  What most people don't realize is how accessible climbing like this is to anyone, even to those with very basic climbing experience.…
